Is there a cure? How long is the treatment? What is the typical age of a vaginismus patient? How many are married? Is abuse the major cause for vaginismus? Is vaginismus a common problem? Etc...

As leaders in the field of vaginismus management, we are eager to address these typical questions and hope that you will find this information valuable in your own quest for answers:

  • What is our cure rate?

95%. Our body-mind treatment approach is a well-defined concept with a proven high success rate. The 5% that did not complete the process include women who never returned past the introductory appointment due to fear of being touched, women who couldn't afford the treatment, women who relocated, and a few women whose husbands denied them the option of treatment (victims of domestic violence). In other words, those women who stayed with the treatment process were able to complete it, successfully.

  • Will vaginismus come back once cured?

No. The treatment process ensures a cure for life as long as the woman follows the prescribed home program.

  • What is the average length of treatment?
(The following are statistical averages and should not be taken as absolute numbers!)
7-10 sessions
for those who live close enough to be treated once or twice weekly.
20 sessions
for those who come for the 2-week program.
This process requires more time because of its concentrated, intense nature.

  • What is the typical family status of the vaginismus patient?
40% are single or in a relationship
60% are married
  • How old is the typical vaginismus patient?
23% are under the age of 25
54% between the ages of 26-35
19% between the ages of 36-50
4% are over the age of 51
  • Do educated women suffer from vaginismus?
Vaginismus is a fearful reaction to penetration - - - it is an inner feeling shared by women across all cultures, religious affiliations, educational levels, or intelligence. Of our patients,
79% are college graduates/professionals
8% are students (entry level to doctoral degrees)
13% are homemakers
  • Is abuse the most common cause for vaginismus?
Not at all. Only 22% of our inquiries experienced abuse, may it be verbal, emotional, physical, sexual or rape.
  • How prevalent is vaginismus? I never heard of it before...
Unfortunately, vaginismus is still a hidden problem, suffered in silence and often missed by healthcare professionals. Consequently, actual numbers of vaginismus sufferers are hard to come by. However, just looking at our vaginismus website's activity may give some clues as to how prevalent it is (inquiries are from the USA and worldwide): over 24,000 visitors annually, and the numbers keep growing...
