Feels like the good old days (secondary vaginismus)…

The patient was in her early 60s, menopausal, and has given up on sexual intimacy several years ago because of pain during intercourse.  An Internet search for solutions brought her to us, and her treatment progressed smoothly, as expected.

“I have been telling my menopausal girlfriends about this process, and about not having to suffer from pain, which is quite a revelation for them…”

The last step in the process was proofing the gyno exam, with the patient remembering the pinching she used to feel when the speculum was opened inside her.  This time, however, it was easy and smooth, which made her exclaim, “Feels like the good old days before menopause!”

The message: menopause is not a death sentence for the vagina; comfort and function can be easily restored within a few treatment sessions.
